Minnesota - Severe Weather Awareness Week - Eden Valley
Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 13–17, 2026
Are You Prepared for Severe Weather?
Each year, Minnesota’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management partners with the National Weather Service to promote Severe Weather Awareness Week. This annual effort helps remind and educate Minnesotans about the risks of seasonal severe weather and the steps you can take to stay safe. It’s also an ideal time for Eden Valley residents to review and practice their emergency plans and to build or update their emergency preparedness kits.
The most important events during Severe Weather Awareness Week are the two annual statewide tornado drills.
In Minnesota, the 2026 statewide tornado drills are scheduled for Thursday, April 16 at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. CDT.
Visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Website for more information on how to plan and prepare for different severe weather situations.
